About LuminAID’s Give Light, Get Light Program1.6 billion people around the world lack proper access to electricity. We’ll send lights to their Adult Literacy Program, where women are working every day to learn the skills they need to start a business, create a better life for their children, and become advocates for change in their communities.buildOn’s goal is to break the cycle of poverty, illiteracy, and low expectations through service and education. buildOn mobilizes rural communities around the world to build new schools, empowering entire villages to increase their own access to life-changing education and literacy. The buildOn Adult Literacy Program is taught in seven countries around the world. Parents and grandparents in Burkina Faso, Haiti, Nepal, Nicaragua, Malawi, Mali, and Senegal are given the education they need to build a better life for themselves and for their children in the very same schools their children attend during the day.Disaster ReliefLights sponsored for disaster relief will be sent to partner organizations and distributed to families affected by disasters the world over. As disasters arise, these lights will be sent to the areas of greatest need with one or more of our humanitarian partners. Following natural disasters, safe light is one of the most critical needs for families left in the dark.
